Come along to our usual casting practice area with Ian, as he leads the session on saltwater casting techniques.

We will fish the rivers and streams of the Kosciuszko National Park. We will be based in Jindabyne, and meet in venues near the Nuggets Crossing shopping centre of an evening to trade tips and stories - this usually Brumbies Bar in the Alpine Gables hotel on the Friday night, and the local Italian Restaurant on the Saturday, but subject to availability. If you have a non-fishing partner coming who would like to join us for dinner on Saturday, they are most welcome - just get a "Non-fisher Saturday Dinner" ticket below so I have the right numbers. Beginners are welcome, and will be teamed with a more experienced fisher who will be able to show you some of the delightful fishing spots the Snowies has to offer. The trip to the beautiful Howqua River is one of the highlights of the fishing year. First introduced by long-time club member Phil Irons, it is now named to honour his memory. This is a camping trip, usually based at the Pickering Flat campsite, with the nearest services in Mansfield, 50 minutes away, so it's BYO everything. The Howqua River has many access points, from your front door at the campsite, to Eight Mile (half an hour upstream) to Whiskey Flat (half an hour downstream) and lots in between. The river offers many options for fishing - deep holes, riffles, fast pocket water, or wide and slow. Dry flies and nymphs have been successful in the past, and tight-line nymphing is also popular. We gather at night at the campsite by a fire (weather permitting) to trade tips, and sort out who is fishing where (Please bring a bag of firewood for the nightly fire).
